As the session opens, the party is still riding out a duststorm within a warehouse in Outpost Three. Zombie elves had just smashed their way through the front door and been defeated. Now there is a worrisome banging coming from the trapdoor in the ceiling.
With a loud crash, an undead elf smashes through the rooftop trapdoor and lands badly on the floor amidst the group. It attacks Russk, landing several solid blows. Grom soon makes it over to the zombie and the party makes short work of it.
Almost immediately, a second elf drops through the ceiling (this one landing unharmed) while an additional elf zombie climbs in trough the ruined door. The undead lay into the party, but are ultimately defeated. The party waits tensely for several minutes, but no further attacks are made against their position. The group patches the breaches in the warehouse and passes the night nervously.
The next morning, the PC's discover that most of the other warehouses were attacked and their defenders slain. The survivors gather together and it is decided the party should still sortie out from the Outpost this day. Their mission, however, is not so clear cut: Gorgoreth would like the party to attempt to reason with the elves and perhaps negotiate some kind of deal. Laalarash wants the party to either scout the area, to provide the defenders with advance warning of another attack, or strike back against the elves, killing all they can.
Both men agree that the group should attempt to locate the relief column, due in 2 days time. They were surely caught unprotected by the duststorm and may not arrive at all without assistance.
The party sets out north, heading for a dry riverbed named Zalkan's Wadi. The relief forces would have most likely headed along the wadi on the journey here from Urik. The PC's agree to investigate a nearby observation post manned by elves of the Nightcloak tribe, which appears on the map they received from the elven prisoner Alie-Aka. The hope is that they can take out the outpost, leaving a hole in the elven siege that they can scout through or lead the relief soldiers through. As the session opens, the party is still riding out a duststorm within a warehouse in Outpost Three. A few hours after the party sets out, Grom and Lain catch sight of movement amongst the rocks: a razorwing! The leathery reptilian takes flight and swoops in, slashing Sadiria with it's sharp wing edges. Sadiria in turn blasts the creature with a beam of pure psychokinetic fire, hurting it badly. The predator flies in a lazy arc to attack the party again, and Lain scores a long range hit with his bow. Finally, the razorwing attacks again, slashing Grom badly, but Grom has been waiting for the beast, and cuts it from the air with his greatsword.
The party continues on towards the elven observation post.
Outstanding Plot Hooks:
- Why are the elf tribe attacking?
- Where are the undead elves coming from and why are they allowed to fight alongside the living elves?
- Can our protagonists survive make it past the elven siege?
- Will our party survive to reach Urik and get the payout from their caravan?
